Matthew Tipping

Racing Driver, Engineer, Driver Coach

Matthew has been in and around motorsport for 20 years, starting his career in Comer Cadets with his dad on the tools. He worked his way up through the competitive Junior categories of UK Karting and onto the European stage by the age of 14. In this time, Matthew had come to the idea that to be the absolute best in a kart, you had to absolutely know the machine inside and out. This is where his passion for engineering really flourished.

Matthew used his new found interests to develop skills that have inherently had a positive impact on his career throughout the last decade. In karting, he was known for his ballsy overtaking moves and late braking manoeuvres, this alone found him sponsored by global brake system manufacturer - Magura.

Since his karting years, Matthew has spent countless hours extending his skillset into the race car sector of motorsports. Knowing what he knew about karting, understanding the race car beneath him was absolutely paramount. Everything from circuit specific corner weighting to diff ramp angles - all of these factors add up to be the best possible machine you can put on the ground.

Matt and Caitlin both own a small workshop in the midlands where they have both developed the BMW E90 325i race car that they supply for hire today.

strengths:

  • Driver psychology in both competitive and non competitive environments

  • Teaching drivers to become more self aware and help improve their ability to recall session details in car

  • Working with new drivers building a solid foundation for them to improve their skills

  • Reference point values and driving with your eyes

  • Helping drivers understand core fundamental engineering basics to improve their understanding of the car and its characteristics in the environment they are in.

  • Understanding that all of the above is a process and the most important thing is the driver is enjoying what they are doing.
